Korean, Chinese Companies Cooperate on DMB

LG Electronics has signed a MoU with the company Yue Guang from Guangdong province, China, to partner on terrestrial DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting). LG plans to provide Yue Guang with terrestrial DMB mobile phone handsets starting at the end of 2005. As Yue Guang is preparing to start services in December 2005, LG will support Yue Guang with equipment and manpower. In June LG will begin testing terrestrial DMB in Guangdong.
Samsung together with KBS have signed a contract with the company Jolon from Beijing. Jolon plans to start with trial terrestrial DMB services in September 2005 in the Beijing area. KBS will support Jolon with basic technology and Samsung will supply terrestrial DMB mobile phone handsets needed for the trial services.
